Bio
A native of Decatur, GA, our Principal, is the product of a small, public school district in the heart of a historic town - laden with century old oak trees, quaint craftsman and bungalow architecture, and the famous front porches where friends, family, and neighbors congregate on hazy summer evenings to sip iced-tea and talk about the times - just east of downtown Atlanta.

The school district, tucked away from big city pressures and overcrowded mass education systems, allowed some pretty unique opportunities for students; the arts, a focus on more than just local and regional borders, accelerated learning platforms, and a grassroots effort by involved parents encouraged and empowered students to get involved in multiple academic activities such as civic, social and professional clubs, music, international travel, and sports.

Thomas graduated in the upper ranks of his class, and moved to continue his education in North Carolina at a small, private school just outside of Charlotte, NC. Finding the community un-engaging, and lacking the diversity he was accustomed to, Thomas transferred to a more internationally focused college just outside of Greensboro, NC.

While at Elon, he became very involved in the workings of the school - quickly demonstrating his leadership skills as a Community Development Coordinator. In addition to assuming a role of responsibility for the welfare of the student body, Thomas also got involved in AKPsi - a professional business organization, played Varsity and Club soccer, and managed the women's volleyball team.
After completing his primary undergraduate degree in Business Administration / International Business Management in 1996, he moved to position himself to be competitive for future trends suggesting more global interdependence, and proposed and piloted a study abroad program to Santiago, Chile S.A.

In just a year, Thomas had acquired enough credits to complete his second undergraduate degree in Spanish - General Studies. No more than a few short months after accepting his diploma, Thomas returned for another year in Chile to work as a Corporate Communications Consultant and Language Instructor - working with finance executives for multinational companies such as: Delloitte and Touche, BASF, British Tobacco, Coca Cola, and others.

Thomas has lived in the metropolitan Washington, DC area for nearly ten years, and has a wonderful family with two small children. Dedicated to his family and current community of Cheverly, MD, Thomas enjoys spending time with his kids swimming at the local pool, playing sports, and discovering the many wonders of our nation's capital. With life a bit simpler, Thomas keeps in close touch with the many people he's come to know, respect, and care for.
